FO: Möbius Cowls

Image
I feel like I've been on a production line of knitting recently! I've produced 4  möbius  moss stitch cowls for Christmas presents.  All are cast on with 124 sts using a  möbius  cast on. I used the opportunity to try out a few different types of  möbius  cast on. The silver and purple ones are cast on using  Cat Bordhi’s moebius cast on.  I liked the relatively simple way of casting on but the first row was very tight and difficult to do. This seemed to cause the stitches to stretch very slightly but enough for me to notice it! The silver/white and the silver/pink are cast on using a different  möbius  cast on, which is  Alternating Cast-On for Moebius  from June Hemmons Hiatt’s “The Principles of Knitting”. The provisional cast on used for the centre is very similar to Judy's Magic Cast On . The upside of this one was I found it really easy to do and the first row was worked easily wit...

Lovely Weekend

Image
We had a lovely weekend with a day trip to Lincoln; where some scrumptious wool was bought and some wool wash. Plus a very large chisel of some sort for Mr. which I'm sure will get plenty of use on the lathe. I started a new project; as my current one's aren't particularly car friendly. It's going to be a scarf and it uses King Cole Galaxy DK in a very zingy pink! Sunday was a full day out in the sunshine at Horncastle for their Family Fun Day. Our archery club ran a Have a Go at archery and we were non-stop all day. Lots of interesting people and nice sunshine.

Sequined Madness

Think I'm going slightly mad. I agreed to make a lacy top for my mum-in-law for a ball she's going to. We both thought it was over a month away but it turned out to be next weekend! So we were both thinking that it wouldn't happen but we had a few snow days so 4 knitting days later we have this! Mum-in-law had very specific ideas on what she would like and unfortunately we couldn't find a pattern that would match and would also work with the wool. So I've ended up designing it too. I used measurements from a pattern that was the correct shape and then worked it out with a different stitch pattern and needle size. There was a bit of wool left over so I crocheted a corsage to go with the outfit.
